A habit of making sense of systems

Aigentic is built and run by me, Joel Liew. This is where I dig into questions that bug me, work out what matters, and explain what I learn in simple terms. Sometimes that work becomes a useful product. Sometimes it becomes a better understanding worth sharing. The practice is the same: question → research → teach.

How I got here Part 1: Quantitative Trading

I spent six years as a quantitative trader at Tower Research Capital and then Mecha Markets, researching and building high-volume spot-FX strategies.

The data and infrastructure were already there. My job was to research and build strategies that could trade profitably and consistently.

How I got here Part 2: Building Independently

Then came three years working independently in crypto markets. I built the stack from distributed infrastructure to the strategies running on it: on-chain arbitrage, just-in-time liquidity provision, and execution tuned from milliseconds to microseconds.

Building and operating alone made the connection between a model and its implementation unavoidable. Understanding the strategy also meant understanding the system carrying it out.

How I got here Part 3: Aigentic

Aigentic carries that practice into a broader body of work. Flow records the questions, experiments, and changes in understanding, as well as what they produce.

For businesses, we build, run, and maintain operational workflows. Our current client is Optimum Badminton Academy (OBA).

Making understanding concrete

Building software is one way I make my understanding concrete enough to test. Writing is another: explaining an idea exposes what I understand, and what I still need to investigate.

What are you working on?

A question to explore, something to build, or a business workflow that needs someone to take responsibility for it.
